Free Wi-Fi with your coffee?
Coffee Republic announced today that from 1 May 2008, free wireless Internet access will be available for customer use across the majority of its UK coffee bar estate. The launch will see Coffee Republic become the UK?s first coffee chain to provide Wi-Fi free of charge to its customers.
The new service is aimed at providing Coffee Republic?s broad customer base with added-value to the service they receive in the Bars; from business professionals looking for a comfortable ?mobile office?, to students looking for a leisurely place to download music or work on a project.
The offer also represents significant savings for regular Wi-Fi users. Currently, the UK boasts several ?hotspots? but the majority are pay-as-you-go or contract services which means customers could be paying up to £4.50 an hour* to use the technology. By using the new service at Coffee Republic, which is linked to a purchase, customers who use Wi-Fi for an hour a week could be saving themselves up to £234 a year.
Steven Bartlett, Chief Executive Officer, Coffee Republic said: ?The launch of free Wi-Fi in Coffee Republic Bars will be a huge benefit and attraction to our customers. People are increasingly looking for ways to access the Internet on the move, they want to lead a flexible and modern lifestyle and we need to help them do that with the service we provide. This new service in our Bars will give them a new evolution in technology in a warm, comfortable environment.?
?Until recently, customers have had little choice but to pay by the month or hour to access the Internet on the move. We believe our easy and convenient free service will be well received by customers.?
The free service, delivered by Commsport, one of the UK?s leading providers of Wi-Fi hotspots and internet kiosks, follows successful trials that took place in several of Coffee Republic?s Bars over the last few months.
Ian McKelvie, IT Manager, Coffee Republic states: ?Two of the Bars in particular which trialled the service, Reading and Weybridge, had a noticeable increase in footfall, which encouraged us to take the decision to roll-out free Wi-Fi in other outlets.?
Colin Gwynn, Managing Director, Commsport said: ?It?s great to see Coffee Republic bringing free Wi-Fi to its customers, who can now access the Internet free of charge whilst enjoying a cup of coffee. The service will also provide advertising opportunities for businesses that are looking to reach their target audience whilst online. The Wi-Fi landing page will offer space to advertisers to promote their brands. With a significant proportion of Coffee Republic customers using the Internet terminals or Wi-Fi, it offers a useful channel to reach consumers quickly, effectively and in the right environment. ?In-bar technology is the way forward. Free Wi-Fi access, will help drive footfall to our Bars and ultimately push sales so our focus remains firmly in continuing to deliver these solutions to the business,? concludes Ian McKelvie.
The free Wi-Fi service will be live and available to use anytime throughout the participating Bars? opening hours. Once customers have made their purchase at the Bar they will be offered a free Wi-Fi voucher that will provide them with the login code to access the Coffee Republic hotspot from their Wi-Fi enabled laptop, mobile phone or PDA.
St. Andrew Square Now Open
This week we have the pleasure of announcing the new opening of Coffee Republic St. Andrew Square in Edinburgh. The new Deli opened by Danny Anderson on Friday 4th April was part of the grand opening of St. Andrew Square Gardens, which had previously been closed to the public for the last 238 years. The new Coffee Republic sits amidst the garden surroundings in a newly built pavilion, and what with summer being just around the corner, it's the perfect place to enjoy our fresh coffee and relax in the peacefulness of the gardens. This week we have great pleasure in welcoming the following new stores to our fleet; Coffee Republic Served Here @ Travelodge, an exciting new trial for Coffee Republic and Travelodge situated at their City Road Hotel, in east London. Coffees and other CR favourites will be available all day, and a specially selected deli menu between 7am and 5pm.
We are also very excited to announce the opening of our first store in Dubai with the Paris Group, our third concession with the McLeish Brothers in Edinburgh and also in Scotland we have the pleasure of welcoming new franchisee Vijay Lakhanpal, who opened his doors to the public on Friday 14th March in Merchant Square, Merchant City, one of Glasgow's most prestigious locations, just minutes away from the city's busy shopping centre - with so many Coffee Republic's to choose from why not pop in and sample our delights for yourself!

New to Northern Ireland
The first Coffee Republic Deli in Northern Ireland opened at the Abbeycentre, Newtownabbey on Friday 29th February.
The unique Deli format combines the same great coffee that is Coffee Republic?s heritage with a serious hot and cold fresh food range, served in a quick service environment. Significantly, the new Deli also focuses on securing produce from local food suppliers.

New Stores in November
What a month it has been so far! we have been busy busy busy at Coffee Republic this month opening four new Delis so far. We started off on November 3rd with Ricky Anthony who opened his new Deli in Canterbury's Marlow Arcade. Our next stop was to Guildford where Gary Hannon opened a new Deli in The Friary Shopping Centre on November 12th before opening another new store with Raj Mathur on the 14th in the High Road, North Finchley (for addresses, see below).
We also had the pleasure of opening our third International Deli this month, with our second site opening in the European side of Istanbul in the aspirational Nisantasi district, on November 15th, and we aren't stopping there! With more openings scheduled before the end of the month and a whole host of openings planned for December, Coffee Republic is looking forward to having 100 stores and concessions in operation as we head into 2008.

The following bars will be opening during the next 8 weeks or so.

There are also plans in place for a further 6-8 new deli bars which will be updated on the site regularly.
Franchise Open Day
We are currently reviewing the way we present our franchise offering to prospective franchisees.
From 27th March 2007, rather than have a formal presentation at our Exchange Square Deli Bar, we will be hosting prospective franchisees at our Head Office in Clifton Street, London.We hold our open day sessions from 11am, for about an hour and a half.
The format of the day will include a presentation on Coffee Republic and its franchise offering, along with a visit to the Exchange Square Deli Bar. We want to give prospective franchisees an opportunity to see the business from the inside to help them fully undersatnad what Coffee Republic is all about.
Shareholder Day
This is an offer to all of our active shareholders to come and have an informal but informative visit to Coffee Republic's Head Office.
You will be able to meet and chat with members of our team, sample current development concepts as well as enjoy our fabulous food range.

We will be trialing a new way to sell tea, with a branded national tea manufacturer. The first bar will be Broadgate, London. Trials start at the end of January 2007

A REVOLUTION AT COFFEE REPUBLIC
Coffee Republic has launched "All Fresh"; all of the sandwiches, baguettes, salads, toasties and paninis are made in each of the deli kitchens fresh everyday.
CR Deli is now in a unique position to offer guests the highest quality coffee and the freshest grab and go food while also offering guests the opportunity to make anything at the deli.
Award for Best Coffee in UK
Coffee Republic have won the BAA Food and Beverage Award for Best Coffee in any UK airport, beating Caffe Nero, Starbucks, AMT, Ponti's & Costa Coffee.
This is following on from last year's win of first and second prize for Barista of the Year.
