Comedian’s Coffee Republic Challenge Makes Headlines
24 Feb 2010
Phill Jupitus was surprised he made headlines yesterday after he threw down a challenge to Twitter fans in Bournemouth to meet him at Coffee Republic. The comedian, who chose Coffee Republic at 52 Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth town centre over nearby branches of Caffe Nero and Costa Coffee, has over 60,000 followers on Twitter. As promised he bought coffee and cakes for the first five fellow Twitterers on the scene and ended up buying many more coffees as fans kept arriving. He uploaded photographs from the coffee bar to the internet from his phone.
Ian Homer of Coffee Republic said; “We were pleased that Phill chose our bar for his coffee challenge. He had a hot chocolate and one of our filled Muffins and seemed to be having a good time chatting with people who turned up to see him.”
The story was covered in the Bournemouth Echo.
